Duvet vs Quilt vs Comforter
What is a Duvet
Two pieces - Duvet insert and Duvet cover
Filling: Down, feathers, synthetic fibers
Purpose: Keeps you warm and cozy, Simplify overall bedding
Warmth: Cozy yet still excellent at temperature regulation. Fluffier / Lofiter. Soft and lightweight
Look: Clean and Simple
What is a Quilt
Layer: One piece with three layers - top, batting and bottom
Filling: Cotton, wool, voile
Purpose: Provide warmth and comfort. Good choice of bedding when it comes to layering. Can also be used as a motif piece if it is colourful and decorative
Warmth: Warm but not too fluffy. Stuffier materials make it heavier than other bed coverings
What is a Comforter
One piece that is quilted with three layers - front, filling and back
Filling: Down, feathers, polyester
Purpose: While comforters are thinner than duvets, they do provide warmth and protection during the night. Requires layering of bedding.
Warmth: May not be warm enough for colder days, which means that more layers are needed such as a flat sheet. Flatter feel. Soft and lightweight
Look: Layered, cohesive look

How to choose a duvet / quilt
Tog refers to the degree of warmth and insulation you will feel when you’re under your Duvet. The tog scale ranges from a cool 1.5 tog to a very snug 15 tog, essentially the higher the tog, the warmer the Duvet. Your sleeping style and preference should guide you into choosing the best Duvet for yourself - if you prefer to feel cooler from the breeze of the air conditioner, you may consider purchasing a Duvet on the lower end of the tog scale.
The filling of a Duvet can determine the quality of your experience. Those who have accustomed themselves to natural filled Duvets swear by them and claim that there is no better way to stay warm and cozy all night long. Natural fillings like goose down and feather are soft and warm. They also tend to be heavier and larger to give you that added pressure that feels like a hug when you sleep at night. However, this depends on its down to feather ratio - the higher the ratio, the lighter and warmer the Duvet.
On the other hand, if you have sensitive skin or allergies you may want to consider exploring synthetic or semi-synthetic fillings. These duvet are hypoallergenic and moisture-wicking, hence more breathable and gentle on skin than natural Duvets.
A Duvet that is synthetic is a safe bet as they are manufactured to be hypoallergenic and anti dust mite. This makes it suitable for all skin types.
An example of a semi-synthetic material is TENCEL™ fibres. TENCEL™ fibres’ hypoallergenic and moisture-wicking abilities make it the best sheets for people with sensitive skin or skin disorders, such as eczema or psoriasis.
Fill Power & Weight
Fill power is a measurement of the volume taken up by the filling in a Duvet which accounts for its insulating ability. The higher the fill power, the lighter, more breathable and more durable the duvet will be.
Fill weight is the weight of the fill inside a Duvet per square metre. As the fill weight increases, so does the weight of the Duvet. It also determines the softness of a Duvet. Generally, a Duvet with high fill power will have a low fill weight so as to suit the needs of users in warmer weather.
Duvet / Quilt Recommendation for Fill Power/ Fill Weight based on preferences :
Lightweight, summer use - 400 and below Fill Power, 150 - 250 GSM
Snug and cozy - 600 to 800 Fill Power, 300 - 400 GSM
Extra warmth - 800 and above Fill Power, 450 GSM and above
Some people prefer sleeping with something much lighter, and just use the fan. Light covers like Weavve's Waffle Knit Blanket may be more suitable for you than a heavier duvet or comforter.
If you have insomnia or other sleep related issues, try out a weighted blanket, which utilizes deep pressure therapy to induce calm sleep.

Weavve’s TENCEL Duvet is constructed using Lenzing’s TENCEL™ fibres. The TENCEL™ we use contains 100% Lyocell fibres, the most advanced, comfortable and durable generation of TENCEL™ fibres.
The use of 100% TENCEL™ Lyocell for our duvet exterior and filing gives the duvet an extremely luxurious feel - smooth, soft and cool. The high but authentic 350 thread count fabric is very breathable but prevents leaking of the filling, resulting in higher durability without sacrificing comfort. TENCEL™ Lyocell is naturally gentle and hypoallergenic, making it a great choice for people with sensitive skin.
From a design perspective, the pocketed construction keeps the filling evenly distributed and loop ties ensures the duvet stays in place in the duvet cover especially for larger sizes.
Sleep Fresh and Safe every night
TENCEL™ Lyocell has great moisture management which gives it anti-bacterial and anti-odour properties.
Our TENCEL Lyocell Duvet Insert is treated with DuPont’s SILVADUR™ Advanced Microbial Control technology, eliminating bacteria, fights mould and fungi that cause odour, discoloration and degradation of the duvet (tested to be effective up to 50 washes)
Our duvet (and bed sheets) are labelled with the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEK®, certifying that our duvet is toxin-free, making it safe for everyone, including babies and those with sensitive skin. As duvets are not washed as frequently as bedsheets, Weavve’s Lyocell Duvet is designed and tested to stay safe and fresh for longer, added with the ability to fight bacteria, mould & fungi, and odour.
Keeping the environment in mind
TENCEL™ lyocell fibres originate from 100% sustainably sourced Eucalyptus wood. Its closed loop production process recycles water and solvents at a recovery rate of more than 99%. These fibres are also certified as compostable and biodegradable, and can fully revert back to nature.

How to wash a duvet / quilt
Before washing a duvet or quilt, check the item's care label and follow the suggested washing instructions.
Care instructions may differ according to the duvet / quilt material.
Duvet and quilt can usually be washed at home, but some domestic washing machines may have a large enough capacity to allow the duvet or quilt to move around freely in the drum.
If your Duvets or quilts with synthetic fillings can fit into your machine, use a gentle cycle.
Feather and down-filled duvets and quilts may not be able to machine wash due to the nature of the fibres and may instead require dry cleaning. If using a washing machine, it is best to use a gentle spin cycle and hang it to dry before next use.
Our TENCEL duvet care instructions:
Hand or machine wash at or below 20°C.
Do not tumble dry.
Hang or flat dry away from direct sunlight.
Do not iron.
Do not soak or bleach.
Do not dry clean.
How often to wash duvet /quilt
Because duvets have a cover, the duvet itself doesn’t need to be washed as often as your sheets or other bedding. It is recommended to be washed every few months, at least once or twice a year.
What is a duvet cover
A duvet cover is an outer fabric covering that slips over the duvet and has a closure. Duvet covers protect your duvet / quilt during use and can be easily removed for washing when needed. With duvet covers, you can also quickly and easily change the look of your bed and room through a change of style or colour choice. Most duvet covers come with corner ties so that the duvet can be better secured within.
