How do I use a Reed Diffuser?

Reed diffusers are a simple and effective way to gently disperse fragrance in a room. 


Setting Up: Carefully open the diffuser bottle plug, it might be rather tight to prevent spillage and evaporation during storage and shipping, so take your time. Avoid spills as some oils might damage surfaces. We recommend doing so over the sink or on a rag.

Insert the Reeds: Place the reeds into the bottle so they can soak up the oil. Spread them out for better fragrance dispersion. Let them sit for a couple of hours or overnight for the oil to travel up the reeds. You may choose to insert 2-3 reeds in the beginning, and add more later on if you prefer a stronger scent.

Flip the Reeds: After a few hours or the next day, flip the reeds. This helps to saturate the reeds fully and allows the fragrance to be dispersed more effectively.

Positioning: Place the diffuser in a location with good airflow but away from direct sunlight or heat sources. This allows the scent to disperse evenly without getting too strong.

Maintenance: Periodically, flip the reeds every other week or so to refresh the fragrance. If you notice the scent becoming weaker, you can also replace the reeds entirely.

Be Cautious: Be careful when handling the reeds and the oil, as some oils might stain or damage surfaces. Keep them away from children and pets. Keep away from direct heat sources, open flames or ignition sparks. Do not use reed diffuser solution for humidifiers or aromatherapy diffusers/ burners.


Why did my Reed Diffuser dry up so quickly?

Our diffusers lasting 3-4 months is a rough estimate, as its longevity ultimately depends on the environment. Exposure to heat or direct sunlight could increase the rate of evaporation of the diffuser blends, The Diffuser may also last longer in a smaller room compared to a large and spacious environment.

Which is better, Candle or Reed Diffuser?

There are pros and cons to both Candles & Reed Diffusers, but they serve the same basic function of enhancing your space aromatically. 


Reed Diffusers are a low-maintenance option to keep a space smelling good. It is also a safer option as there are no open flames that you need to consistently keep an eye on.

Candles can very quickly enhance the space with warmth and cosiness for the perfect ambiance, due to the soft flickering of the flame. However, never leave a candle unattended.


Our scents on its own are not meant to overpower, but if you personally prefer a stronger scent throw, do consider using both products in the same space. However, do take note NOT to place the candle too close to the reed diffuser when lighted - the other table or another corner of the room would be ideal.

Can you reuse reed diffuser sticks?

It’s best not to reuse old reeds, as they become clogged with dried oil over time, reducing their ability to disperse fragrance effectively. For the best scent throw, replace reeds whenever you switch to a new fragrance or when the scent starts to fade, usually every few months.

What is the difference between a reed diffuser, an oil diffuser, and an electric diffuser?

  • Reed diffusers use natural reeds to absorb and disperse fragrance continuously—no flames or electricity needed.
  • Oil diffusers (also called burner diffusers) use heat to evaporate essential oils, offering a more intense but short-lived scent.
  • Electric diffusers use ultrasonic waves or heat to mist essential oils into the air, providing customizable scent intensity but requiring water and regular cleaning.

Why is my reed diffuser evaporating too fast?

Several factors affect how quickly your diffuser evaporates. Hot, dry environments, air conditioning, or direct sunlight can cause the fragrance to disappear faster. Using too many reeds also increases absorption, making the oil run out quicker. To extend its lifespan, place your reed diffuser in a cool, shaded area away from direct airflow and flip the reeds less frequently.
